Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist providing online therapy throughout California, with a particular focus on men’s mental health, stress and burnout.
I’m Dr. Jeff Kleinberg. I work with people who are ready to understand themselves more deeply – not just find another way to push through what isn’t working.
My practice focuses primarily on men navigating stress, burnout, relationships, emotional disconnection and major life changes, but I welcome anyone who is ready to take an active role in their mental health.
Therapy, to me, is about more than managing symptoms. It’s about getting curious about why certain patterns keep showing up. Why the same conversations become difficult. Why you shut down in some situations and overthink others. Why you can understand something intellectually and still find yourself doing exactly the same thing.
Since 2009, I’ve worked with adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma, grief, stress, burnout and significant life transitions.
What I’ve learned is that meaningful change rarely comes from simply being told what to do differently. It begins when we understand why we do what we do in the first place.
That understanding becomes the starting point for making different choices.
Many men become exceptionally good at functioning. Working. Providing. Solving problems. Staying productive. Taking responsibility. Moving on. But being able to function doesn’t necessarily mean everything underneath is okay. Stress can become burnout. Independence can become isolation. Avoiding conflict can become emotional distance. And years of pushing difficult feelings aside can make it surprisingly hard to know what you actually need. A significant part of my practice focuses on helping men explore these experiences – particularly stress, burnout, relationships, emotional disconnection and the expectations they carry about who they’re supposed to be.
But my practice isn’t limited to men.
I welcome anyone who is ready to take an active role in their mental health, examine the patterns shaping their life and work toward meaningful change.
You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what’s wrong or having the right words to explain it. We figure that out together. My style is active, relational and collaborative. I’m interested not only in what has happened in your life, but in how those experiences continue to influence the way you think, respond, connect and make decisions today. We may notice the things you avoid. The expectations you place on yourself. The relationships that trigger familiar reactions. Or the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself that may no longer be helping.
There is room for depth in this work, but also for warmth, honesty, curiosity and humor.
